The Sustainability Institute is not a registered charity but carries out a considerable amount of work on a voluntary basis. This includes the bulk of all research, administration and also most of the editorial work associated with the journal.
Currently, the Institute covers running costs mainly from earnings from consultancy work and related services. A small proportion of income is derived from the sale of goods and from advertising revenue.
In the last two years we have received a regular trickle of donations from people who wishes to support the work we are doing. The donations have generally ranged from a few euro to a few hundred euro. Two donations were for larger amounts.
What donations are used for:
Money received in the form of donations will be used primarily for research. It will allow the Institute to offer a small wage - typically 10-12 euro per hour - to researchers and to cover some of the other associated research expenses.
What donations are NOT used for:
Administration work, personal expenses, office equipment, travel, accommodation, food or entertainment.
Accountability
Donations are an important source of research funding. The Institute is strongly committed to fully accounting for all donations received and further details of how donations have been spent can be provided upon request.
