Ordering on line using PayPal
Several subscribers have expressed concerns to us that PayPal is not secure and that their credit card may be at risk. We wish to clarify the situation: PayPal is an extremely secure on-line payment facility used by millions of people worldwide every day.
There are however a growing number of very clever on-line scams being perpetuated by criminal gangs posing as banking institutions, building societies and more recently, as PayPal.
These scams present themselves as seemingly innocent messages warning the recipient that there has been some 'problem' with their account and that all will be rectified once they confirm their credit card number. Sometimes there is a 'warning' that unless the credit card details are received within a specified number of days the account will be suspended.
Do not be taken in by any of these scams! NEVER give your credit card details in response to an unsolicited email.
Paying for goods ordered on-line using PayPal is completely secure. The only downside from our point of view is we have to pay a commission to PayPal (about 1 euro) on every transaction!
If for any reason you do not feel comfortable using PayPal, why not order by post and send us a cheque instead? That way, more of the cover price is re-invested in the production process, leading to greater sustainability and viability for the journal!
